June 18th, 2004: With a few complications and many trips to the hospitals and doctors, Grace shall be replacing her 14" G-tube with a small Mickey button. We all hope that it will make life a little more comfortable for her. Phase 2 is projected to take place later on in June if all goes as planned. Though Grace has had some problems with getting adjusted to having a tube hanging out her side, she does as well as she can and calls it "Tubey!" and Tubey has parties in Grace's belly. Other positive notes are that Grace has gained a few pounds, and it looks like it all went to her very pinchable cheeks. She is so precious and sweet. In other news, The "Grace Peshkur Foundation Inc." has been established with the help of Mr John Ferro. This not-for-profit foundation has been put together to not only provide Grace with a healthy and happy quality of life but to make sure that a comfortable future is secured for her during her uncertain journey. June 14th, 2004: We have established a not-for-profit fund for Grace. If it is within your ability, please send a donation to: The Grace Peshkur Foundation, Inc., Michael and Karen Peshkur, 18 Brian Ave, Holtsville, NY 11742. Please make the check/money order out to "The Grace Peshkur Foundation." All donations are tax deductible. We thank you for your generosity and kind support of this precious child. May 2nd, 2004: Grace completed Phase I of her surgery to have a feeding tube emplaced on April 27th and came through in satisfactory condition. Shortly thereafter, she underwent an MRI to determine if there was a spinal problem: the MRI results were negative for a spinal problem (Thank God!). Grace is still in the hospital and is expected to go home sometime next week. There was trouble with the feeding tube, so when she goes home, she most likely will use a 12 hour pump to aid in her nutrient feeding. She is still experiencing a lot of pain. So please, keep her and her family in your prayers during this difficult time. April 5th, 2004.
